2017 Club Trip Schedule

The following is the tentative list of scheduled official PCC fishing trips for this year. Although there are likely to be additional trips added on short notice, following are the ones currently on the calendar. Most of these trips are generally limited to PCC members.

February 10-13, Bishop
: This is a Friday to Monday trip. Enjoy the year round fishing on the Lower and Upper Owens, Hot Creek or Walker rivers. There will be an organizational meeting February 4, 1PM at the PCC clubhouse.  For more information contact Tom Smith at 626-570-1038 or

Spring (Specific Date TBD):  Los Angeles River Carp Fishing Trip:  Fly fish the exotic Los Angeles River with carp fishing expert Mike Miller.  Trip coordinator is Mike Miller.  For more information contact Milke at

April 4 - 7, Pyramid Lake, Nevada: Three days of fishing Pyramid Lake off of ladders for Lahotan Cutthroat trout.  Stay at the Golden Nugget Casino in Reno and be transported to Pyramid Lake every day for the thrill of fishing for Lahotan Cutthroats.  Space is limited to between 9 and 12 anglers.  Trip coordinator is Linda Ross.  Contact Linda for more information or to register for the trip at

May 19 - 20, Eastern Sierra Beginners' Trip:  PCC fishing trip for participants in the Introduction to Fly Fishing clinic. Goal of trip is to introduce beginner fly anglers to fly fishing on a stream, river, and/or lake. Space is limited so please contact Tom Smith at for more information and to reserve your spot.

June 15 - 18, Hot Creek Ranch: This is our annual trip to Hot Creek Ranch (, a private fly fishing ranch (dry flies only) located on the famous spring creek near Mammoth Lakes. There are nine housekeeping cabins streamside for 18 guests. You can reserve and make payments through the PCC website. Contact Fernando Vaszquez at for more inforrmation. 

June – August (Specific Date TBD), Fly Fish the Surf Outing:  Thanks to the “big pond” to the west, we can fly fish locally, drought or no drought! Prior to the trip, an orientation clinic will be arranged to teach you the basics of fly fishing in the surf, including gear, stripping baskets, flies, special clothing and footwear, and the casting of sinking lines in an often chaotic environment. The specific beach and orientation meeting will be decided as we get closer to the date so as to optimize the fishing experience. Contact H. Carl Crawford at to reserve your spot.

July 10 - 12, Southern Utah Guided Wade Trip:
3 days of guided walk and wade fishing in the Fremont River area of Southern Utah. The Quiet Fly Fisher in Loa, Utah, will guide.6 anglers maximum. Estimated cost is $475/angler for three days guided fishing plus gratuity and lodging.  Space is limited so please reserve with Coordinator Fred Uno at or (323) 376-4964 for details.

August 12 - 17, San Juan River, New Mexico, Drift Boat Trip:
4 days drift boat fishing on the San Juan River in New Mexico.  Estimated cost is $1150 per angler which includes 4 days guided fishing, lodging, and meals at the Octagon Inn.  Not included is transportation to/from New Mexico, guide tips, and alcohol.  We can only take 6 anglers.  A deposit of $400  is due by March 15, 2018, with the final payment due July 1, 2018.  Contact Bob Proctor at or  626-355-7339 or Harold Shively at or 626-483-3805 for more information or to reserve a spot for the trip

October 5 – 8, Mono County, California, Fall Bite and Colors:  
A new Pasadena Casting Club trip to beautiful Mono County during the fall color season has been established.  This is a great opportunity to fish the rivers and streams of Mono County:  Upper Owens River, Hot Creek, East and West Walker River, as well as float tubing the range of lakes from Mammoth to Bridgeport.

Each angler is responsible for their own transportation and lodging.  Lodging and meal costs are the responsibility of each participant.  There is no limit on the number of participants and we hope that many club members will take this opportunity to join fellow club members on a fun trip.

Even though there is no registration, Wenda Payan, the trip coordinator, will need to know who is participating to ensure we have trip waivers for all participants and to know who would like to have dinner together for restaurant reservations.

October 12 - 16, Missouri River, Craig, Montana, Drift Boat Fishing:  Fish the famous Montana blue ribbon river: Missouri known as the Mo' this fall for huge rainbows, browns, and whitefish.  Bring your: Dry, nymph and streamer rods.  2 handers bring your trout spey for soft hackle and streamer swinging.  The trip is hosted by Gig Harbor Fly Shop (}.  Lodging will be Wolf Creek Lodge - about 10 miles from Craig.

The cost of the trip is estimated to be $1599/angler which includes includes 3 days of guided fishing (2 anglers per guide), 4 nights lodging (2 per room), and all meals.  In addition a Montana fishing license is required.  The trip is limited to 6 individuals.  Not included are: $150 for guide tips, insurance and transportation costs to/from Wolf Creek, MT. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due to Gig Harbor Fly Shop by January 31.
